From Clinic to Start-line: Meet Katherine

Published 21st July 2026

On July 12th, our Clinical Advisor Katherine Taylor laced up her running shoes and joined thousands at the Saucony London 10K start line. Katherine plays a key role in supporting our UK healthcare delivery, shaping how our mobile clinics respond to the issues faced by our patients.

She first joined Doctors of the World UK in 2013 as a GP volunteer before becoming a GP Ambassador for our Safe Surgeries network. Today, as our Clinical Advisor, Katherine provides expert medical guidance to our Services team. Her work includes supporting volunteers and staff, monitoring developments across the NHS and healthcare system, and advising teams when they encounter urgent or complex medical situations.

With the finish line crossed, we caught up with Katherine to find out what running and working for Doctors of the World UK means to her.

“I am passionate about healthcare being a basic human right and was very disappointed during my time as a GP volunteer to come across so many people who were being denied healthcare in this country.”

Having worked with us for 13 years, Katherine was keen to use her race to “challenge attitudes and systems that are discriminatory and violate people’s right to health.”

Doctors of the World UK provides such important insights to the NHS and policy makers about improvements they can make, as well as supporting people who need treatment and preventative healthcare. Putting up barriers to primary care does not benefit anyone.

Ready to get moving for health justice? Taking part in a challenge event like the Saucony 10k is a great way to get involved. You will fundraise for healthcare access in the UK and globally and improve your own health at the same time.

Fancy a chance at joining the 20-person Doctors of the World UK team for TCS London Marathon 2027? Applications are open.
