Safe Surgeries QI project for GP trainees

Trainees have the option of completing a ‘Quality Improvement Project’ (QIP) as part of their training. This is a great chance to make meaningful improvements in their training practices, to gather valuable data and to develop their own skills and knowledge in inclusion health.

The Safe Surgeries QIP resources support trainees to either make their practice a Safe Surgery or review the engagement with the initiative by training their colleagues on best practice in inclusive patient registration, sharing resources and assessing changes in policy and staff attitudes and knowledge over time. There are two guidance documents below depending on whether practices are new to the network (New Safe Surgery) or already signed up as a Safe Surgery (Follow-up project).

The resources were designed in line with the Royal College of GPs’ QIP guidance.

Please let us know if you are completing the Safe Surgeries QIP and share your findings by emailing safesurgeries@doctorsoftheworld.org.uk. Please also provide feedback on the QIP process via our feedback form here.

For more guidance and resources, see our Useful Resources page.
