2010 has been a year of changes for Doctors of the World UK.
We changed our name to the English version of Médecins du Monde to reflect the fact that we are an international organisation with roots planted firmly in the UK.
Project:London, our free clinic based in east London, is busier than ever and we have increased our team of volunteers to keep up with demand and our lobbying efforts contributed to concrete results benefitting migrants.
This year has also seen the publication of our first annual impact report.
Our lobbying efforts contributed to concrete results benefitting migrants. The government abandoned its plans to prevent irregular migrants from accessing primary care. It withdrew plans to introduce a Citizenship Bill that would have placed limits on irregular migrants’ access to public services, and it backed away from its proposal to restrict migrants’ access to legal aid.
And, we have raised the profile of our work, overseas and here at home.
