Doctors of the World has deployed mobile clinics to three sites in the districts of Nowshera and Charsadda, reaching 50,000 people.

Marc Tyrant, head of the programme: "We are seeing hundreds of people a day at each site, many are women and children.  The most immediate and urgent need is providing shelter, drinking water and food to the disaster victims"

"Crowded living conditions and a lack of access to drinking water are key factors for an outbreak of cholera, unfortunately this is what we are dealing with" he added.

A diarrhoea treatment centre is being set up with the health authorities.

It's the worst flooding in the area since 1929. Disease is a major concern with local authorities fearing a diarrhoea epidemic due to the lack of drinking water available.

We have been committed to working in the region since 1996 ensuring access to primary healthcare, caring for displaced people as well as helping female victims of domestic violence.
