Setting up mobile clinics

Location: Merca & Bossaso

Situation:

The sanitary and epidemiological situation in Somalia is very preoccupying, as it has been worsened by the fighting occurring in the region of Mogadiscio since the end of 2006.

Activities:

Doctors of the World decided to establish a primary care center in Merca and three mobile clinics in Bossaso, these regions being the main reception locations for the displaced populations. These missions will last 12 months and have been effective from September 2007.

Outlook:

Their aim is to improve the health of vulnerable and displaced populations, also offering a rapid response concerning the risk of propagation of epidemics caused by precarious health conditions.

Project start: September 2007

Project end: On-going
