MDM staff have begun work in the rescue effort and are distributing medicines to those who need them. Immediate medical care is needed with temporary hospitals being erected after many of the buildings in the area, including hospitals, were destroyed. With 15 years of working in Haiti and 5 teams already on the ground we were well positioned to help those in desperate need. Our support team and charter flight carrying emergency supplies and medical professionals including surgeons, doctors and nurses has arrived. 2 surgical teams have performed hundreds of critical operations. Please give generously to support our work.

Share Giving
Twelve million individuals own shares in the UK, worth an incredible £200 billion. While donating shares to charity is not a new way of giving, in April 2000, the Government introduced new tax advantages to make it even more attractive. Donors giving shares to charity are entitled to claim full tax relief equal to the market value of the shares and any associated costs such as brokers' fees.
For example, if a higher rate tax payer gives £1,000 worth of shares to charity, they may pay up to £400 less in income tax that year.
Whether you are tidying up your portfolio, or simply feel that this is the most effective way for you to give, get in touch with us to discuss the best way for you to support us.

POOLING OF FUNDS: From its creation, Doctors of the World has operated a pooled funds system. This allows us to intervene as dictated by real needs on the ground, not by financial considerations or the amount of media coverage dedicated to emergency situations.
