For the twelth consecutive year, Doctors of the World will be touring the LUIS VALTUENA INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN PHOTOGRAPHY AWARD, a tribute to four humanitarians workers who were murdered in the field.
The images taken are the consequence of war, desolation and poverty. Yet they also capture the essence of humanitarian actions. This year’s winning picture, taken by the British photographer Andrew McConnell, convey the suffering of victims of civil war in the Congo.
The previous Luis Valtueña Prize events have enjoyed great success, with the participation of more than 1,600 photographers from all continents and over 4,000 photographs entered, becoming a reference within its own field.
This year there is a special prize dedicated to the theme of Climate Change and its effects on human health.
